Cedar and redwood weather beautifully, but a coat of UV-protective stain every 2–3 years extends life and color.

Mesh inspection

Walk the perimeter twice a year. Check for rust spots, popped staples, or loose panels.

Hardware checks

Tighten screws and check hinges annually. California winters can loosen things over time.

Cleaning

Hose it down monthly. For litter or food spills, mild soap and water is enough — avoid harsh chemicals.

Plant care

Trim plants away from mesh; check that no toxic volunteers (like lilies) have appeared.
