How Custom Catios Are Built
An in-depth guide from the team at Cozy Cat Catios.
Step 1 โ Site assessment
Every build starts with an in-home visit. We measure your space, photograph the surrounding architecture, and discuss how your cat lives. Slope, sun exposure, fence height, and access points all influence the design.
Step 2 โ Custom design
From the consult, we draft a scaled design with materials, dimensions, and a flat-fee quote. You review, request changes, and approve before any wood is cut.
Step 3 โ Material sourcing
We use rot-resistant cedar or redwood for framing, 16-gauge powder-coated welded wire mesh for safety, and stainless or hot-dipped galvanized hardware. All sourced from Bay Area suppliers.
Step 4 โ On-site build
Most catios are built on-site rather than prefabricated. This lets us adapt to real-world conditions and gives you a structure that integrates seamlessly with your home.
Step 5 โ Finishing
Stain or paint to match your home, install perches/shelves/tunnels, and walk you through introducing your cat to the new space.
